Accounts Team Leader
Lead and develop our Accounts team to deliver accurate, timely financials, drive process improvements, and partner with international stakeholders in a collaborative finance group.
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Accounts Team Leader to join our finance group and manage day-to-day accounts operations. The successful candidate will lead a small team, ensure accurate and timely financial processing, drive process improvements, and support month-end and statutory reporting activities.
This role is suitable for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys coaching colleagues, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and delivering high-quality financial information to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
· Lead, coach, and develop a team of Accounts Officers and Senior Accounts Officers.
· Monitor team performance against established KPIs and service standards.
· Review work deliverables and provide technical guidance and feedback.
· Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and career development initiatives.
· Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Financial Accounting & Reporting
· Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.
· Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
· Ensure timely preparation of financial statements and management reports.
· Review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate unusual variances.
· Ensure compliance with IFRS, company policies, and reporting requirements.
Client Service & Stakeholder Management
· Serve as the primary escalation point for clients and internal stakeholders.
· Build strong working relationships with assigned vessel owners, management companies, and international counterparts.
· Conduct regular service review meetings with stakeholders.
· Ensure service delivery commitments are consistently achieved.
Audit, Compliance & Controls
· Coordinate external and statutory audits.
· Review audit schedules and support responses to audit queries.
· Ensure adherence to internal control procedures and accounting policies.
· Identify and manage accounting and operational risks.
Process Improvement & Digitalization
· Drive process enhancement, standardization, and automation initiatives.
· Support implementation of new technologies and reporting tools.
· Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and client experience.
· Promote best practices across the team.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy or related accounting discipline.
CPA designation is an advantage.
Strong knowledge of IFRS and accounting principles.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
Experience in financial statement preparation and review.
Exposure to multi-entity accounting.
Experience dealing with international clients and stakeholders.
Knowledge of analytical and automation tools
Experience managing month-end close and audit engagements.
